More people need help from Volunteer Responders. They may be lonely or isolated and in need of a friendly telephone call or recently discharged from hospital and need help to get their essential shopping and medication.
The people you will help may be living at home or in a care setting. You won't be asked to provide personal care or undertake roles that paid staff would do.
All referrers asking for volunteer support will have clear guidance on who is eligible for help.
Examples where support would not be appropriate for people include:
- People with complex mental health needs
- People who are known to be suicidal
- People with severe cognitive impairment
- People with drug addiction or alcohol dependency.
