How quickly do I need to respond to a Care Alert?
Volunteers will need to carry out the task immediately, an alert will last 2 minutes and then passed to the other volunteer. If you are unable to support, please decline the alert immediately.
Am I allowed inside the persons home to help them?
You are not allowed to enter the persons home, and the person is not able to come to the door, please call through the letter box. See if you can locate the person visibly by checking the windows, do not climb gates etc
Will I be given the details of the welfare check before arriving?
The persons name and address will be given, you will not be given details of the circumstances.
If emergency services are required to attend, do I stay with the person until they arrive?
You are not required to stay. Please call 0330 678 1675 and then leave the site. The alarm provider will keep in contact with the person requiring support.
Who should I call if I can’t locate or communicate with the person needing support?
Please call 0330 678 1675, let them know you are a Care Alert Volunteer Responder. They will be able to give you further guidance.
What should I do if my car breaks down on the way or I can’t continue with the task for another unexpected reason?
Please call 0330 678 1675 to let the operative know you cannot fulfil the task. It is important to give this feedback as soon as possible.
